Home Orchards was founded in 2020 by Kalan Schlegel. Growing up and working on a family fruit farm, Kalan began getting messages from homeowners who wanted help with fruit trees in their own backyards. He saw how much people enjoyed watching their fruit trees grow and learning to harvest from their own property. Home Orchards was created to help more homeowners get started with and enjoy fruit producing trees and plants in there backyards.

Today, we specialize in making backyards edible across Central Pennsylvania. We design and install fruit trees, berries, and vines with a focus on reliability and manageability. That means choosing proven varieties, matching the plants to the site, and setting things up correctly from the start. We supply the plants from our own nursery, handle the installation, and bring to life an edible landscape around your space and the look you want.

What we love most is the season-by-season experience that comes with growing fruit at home. From plentiful flower blossoms in the spring, to ripe red fruit at harvest, there is a real anticipation in watching everything progress until you can pick something right off the tree. The payoff is simple and practical, fresh-picked fruit from your own yard that tastes better, and gives your outdoor space a delicious purpose you can enjoy every year.
